Running and Sports Hydration

 

Staying properly hydrated on the run may seem like a simple task. All you need to do for proper sports hydration is just drink - right? While just drinking will certainly help, proper running and sports hydration is a bit more complicated. For one thing there are several different purposes for runners hydration. Running and sports hydration will keep you hydrated and help you avoid heat related injuries such as dehydration or heat exhaustion. On the other end of the spectrum, a properly formulated sports drink with electrolytes will also help you avoid hyponatremia which is a condition caused by low levels of sodium in your blood. Proper running hydration will also provide you with the carbohydrates that supply additional running and sports energy.
