Running and Fatigue

Fatigue and running go together like milk and cookies. Running and fatigue are joined at the hip. Fatigue is an unavoidable but important part of running. Fatigue is a critical phase of running for several reasons. First and foremost, fatigue helps prevent us from taking our bodies to levels that could cause harm. Fatigue is also an essential signaling system. It is one of the ways our body communicates its condition and level of homeostasis or balance.

There is another reason that fatigue is important to us as runners that isn't physiological in nature. It provides us with a reason to run. If running were easy there would be no challenge. There would be lilttle motivation to run if there weren't challenges or goals to meet. Without the presence of fatigue what would be the point of running?

While fatigue is an unavoidable part of running, it's can still be minimized, worked with and even ignored. Here are some articles on running and fatigue that will help you deal with fatigue and use it to your advantage.
