Mud Run Training

Mud Runs, Obstacle Course Races and Advenuture Runs are becoming more and more popular every year. Mud run racing, adventure runs and obstacle courses provide, not only fun and variety to your typical running life, but also a significant challenge. There are mud races and adventure runs designed for all levels from recreational runners to high level athletes. All mud races and obstacle course races have one thing in common. They throw in some unique challenges and obstacles that you may not be prepared for. Mud run training isn't quite the same as training for more typical endurance and distance running. Mud run training has many unique, challenging and fun components.

Obstacle courses, mud runs and adventure races will test your strength, power and agility as well as your speed and endurance. You will need to develop your balance, agility and proprioception to conquer balance beams, tire fields and similar obstacles. You must improve your upper body strength for the obstacles that test your climbing, pulling, pushing and hanging skills. While, as a distance runner, you may already have a good deal of leg strength you will be further challenged by the added resistance of mud or sand fields, cross country runs, long or steep hill climbs, and jumping or leaping obstacles.

Defeating the obstacles of mud runs and adventure races requires a bit of specialized training. In this mud run training section we will offer you tips and information to help you prepare for and conquer your next mud run, adventure run or obstacle course race.
