A recreational runner is a relatively inexperienced runner that run only for fun and fitness. There are three competitive levels - beginning competitor, intermediate competitor and advanced competitor. A beginning competitor is a runner that is just starting to compete in marathons and shorter races. An intermediate competitor has some race experience and trains at a moderate level. An advanced competitor is more experienced as a racer and trains aggressively. Please browse these general marathon training programs and follow the one that is most suited to your marathon goals.
