Running Planet Goes Green

Global warming, air pollution, deforestation, threatened species, species extinction, over flowing landfills - you have seen the statistics. Our planet is feeling the stress caused by years of neglect. At Running Planet we want to do our part to protect our environment.

Did you know the following facts about the impact of printing and publications?

  • 1 ton of printing and office paper uses 24 trees
  • 1 carton of copier paper uses .6 trees
  • 1 tree makes 8,333 sheets of paper
  • 1 ton of 50% postconsumer consumer recycled paper saves 12 trees.

To start doing our part we now offer all of our books and publications in both a print edition and an instant download electronic eBook edition. The eBooks use no natural resources and very little energy. They are almost completely earth friendly. We have also changed how we produce our print editions. The currently popular way of producing books is to print very large amounts to keep printing costs down. The problem with that system is waste. It is estimated that 35 to 40 percent of mass produced books end up in a land fill. That is an unacceptable waste of natural resources and is an additional unnecessary burden on our land fills. At Running Planet all of our print edition books are produced using a print on demand system. Using this system the books are only printed as needed. There is no waste. Our costs are higher but it is worth it to us to help protect the environment.

In addition all of our packing and shipping materials are made from recycled products. You can help on your end by saving the packing material and reusing it for your own shipping needs.

We have also changed how our coaches and fellow staff members report to work. They don't! We have closed our office. We all work from home. We are no longer adding to the pollution problem or wasting energy with a daily commute. The changes we have made are small, but if we all make similar changes to our lifestyle we can pass on a healthy planet to our children and their children.
