Accelerated Training Plans
Accelerated training plans are programs that are useful when you don't have enough time before your goal race or event to finish a more conventional running training program. These accelerated training plans include a lot of goal based running with more focus on high quality workouts and less on easy or recovery runs. Due to the more rapid advancement in both mileage and intensity, these accelerated running programs also include more complete rest days to allow for recovery between the harder training sessions.Accelerated training plans aren't the most ideal training scenario because of the decreased training time, increased difficulty and slight risk of over training, but they do offer you an opportunity to reach your running goal with less than than optimal training time.
